Morning Studies (9:30-11:30am)
John 1-3: The Word Became Flesh by Matt Chandler
The Gospel of John differs from the other three gospel accounts of Jesus’ life and ministry. John focused on the nature of Christ and how belief in Him leads to true life. Through the first three chapters, we learn how we’re dependent upon God to help us believe in the name of Jesus and become His children and experience a well of abundant grace that never runs dry. To this day, Jesus continues to draw followers to Himself in the same ways He drew His first disciples. Jesus became like us so that we might become like Him.
TruthFilled: The Practice of Preaching to Yourself Through Every Season by Ruth Chou Simons
Many of us want God’s Word to dwell richly in us, but life can get in the way. Join Ruth Chou Simons in this study of the Book of Colossians as she leads us through a practice of preaching gospel truth to ourselves by studying Paul’s example. In every changing season of life, we can rest in God’s character, rehearse our identity in Christ, respond in faith, and remember God’s provision for us. In today’s culture, there’s no shortage of self help, easy fixes, and worldly advice, but only the truth of God’s Word was meant to fill you up and satisfy you fully. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” — Colossians 3:16a
Ezekiel: A 12 Week Study by Michael Lawrence (Knowing the Bible Series by Crossway, edited by J.I. Packer and Dane Ortlund)
The book of Ezekiel… what does it mean? I’ve been a Christian for 53 years and I can honestly say I’ve barely read it and certainly have never studied it. I do not want to spend eternity avoiding eye contact with Ezekiel because I’ve ignored the only book he ever wrote. That would just be awkward. So please join me as I attempt to study this very unusual prophet who has a lot to say to us in our day, and who saw the throne of God, and who understood something about the new covenant that we need to learn.
Habits of Grace: Enjoying Jesus through the Spiritual Disciplines by David Mathis
Do you long to know God better yet you’re not sure how to accomplish it? Does the term “spiritual disciplines” make you think of checklists and just more items to add to your day? Habits of Grace is practical, actionable, and accessible. In it, David Mathis speaks with a voice that neither scolds nor overwhelms, offering encouragement through suggestions and insights to help any believer find a rhythm by which to employ these means of grace. Join us as we read, discuss, and apply this book.
Ephesians: The Love We Long For by Scotty Smith
Am I loved? The central question of every human heart is answered with a resounding yes through this study of Ephesians. Through an easily accessible, self-contained small group study each participant will grow in their understanding of the love of Christ, and the riches of his grace and how that love shapes every relationship and every interaction with others. This is the MOPS led study, but is open to all.
Evening Study (7-9pm)
