What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. In most cases, RSS provides a way to get the latest headlines from a news source without the need to go directly to a site. Once the headlines are downloaded, you can then click on the provided link to read the article. An RSS reader, such as Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook (2007 and newer), RSSReader, NewsGator.com and Internet Explorer, aggregates the information into a central place where you can read the headlines and then choose which articles you wish to read. We provide all our announcement and news headlines as an RSS feed.

How do I subscribe to the RSS newsfeed?
If you use Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer as your web browser, you will see this icon like this
at the top or bottom corner telling you that an RSS feed is avaliable on the Faith Church home or news page. After you add this RSS feed by clicking on that icon, you will then have a new menu in your links bar that will have the latest headlines at Faith Church (see example on right). Simply click on a headline to get the entire story on our news page.

What is a Podcast?
Podcasting is a technology that allows automatic distribution of audio and video files on the internet. Podcast grabber programs, such as iTunes, allow users to subscribe to a special type of RSS feed (see above for RSS) and will automatically download a new episode when it becomes available. At Faith Church, we provide all of our recent sermons as a podcast feed.

Why does the audio seem low on some of the podcasts?
Our podcasts are generated from the CD's we record on Sunday mornings. The software we use to create the playable MP3 files used for the podcast does the best it can to boost the volume without causing distortion during the loudest portions of the sermon. We feel this is the best balance between creating a good podcast and using our volunteers' time wisely. That said, the best solution is to turn up your volume.
