DNA groups

If you are looking for a place where you can actively and intentional grow in your relationship with God and others in an intimate setting, a DNA group might be just the thing for you. DNA groups consist of two-three people of the same gender that are committed to spiritual growth, accountability and outreach. For more information, download the DNA brochure or contact Pastor Harvey Pflug.

"For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:20

What is a DNA Group? DNA groups consist of two or three people committed to spiritual growth, accountability, and outreach.

  • The groups are gender specific, not co-ed
  • There is no curriculum, workbook or training involved
  • No leader is needed in the group

Only three tasks are to be accomplished in a DNA group:

  • Scripture is read repetitively in context and in community
  • Sin is confessed in mutual accountability
  • Souls are prayed for strategically, specifically and continuously

Divine Truth

God’s Word has the power to produce dramatically changed lives. This power can only be unleashed by saturating ourselves in Scripture.  Each DNA group decides on a book of the Bible they will read that week. The goal is to create an internal appetite for the rich word of God, so a larger volume of Scripture is desired. It is recommended that you strive to have 25-30 chapters of reading as your weekly goal.  If the group selects a smaller book, the group should read it 5 times in a week.

When the group comes together they ask one another if everyone completed the reading assigned. If any one person was unable to finish the reading then the whole group does the same reading again for the next week. This is not a bad thing. Reading entire books in repetition, in context and in community will yield amazing rewards.
Each week, you discuss the Scripture you have read and insights God has given you. You will challenge each other to apply God’s truth to your lives.

Nurturing Relationships

Being part of a DNA group is choosing to be in a deep, personal, transparent relationship with other believers in a safe environment.  You are committing to be intentional about spiritual growth in community.  When the group meets together you will confess your sins to one another, hold each other accountable, pray for each other and apply God’s truth together.

We will provide you with a list of sample character questions that your group can ask each other every week. Feel free to rephrase these questions to address specific areas with which you are struggling.

Apostolic Mission

Each member of the DNA group is to identify three people (Circle of Three) whom the Lord lays on their hearts that need Jesus as their Savior. The group compiles the list of names and each person in the DNA group prays for the people on that list throughout the week. The idea is to pray for and build a relationship with the people on your list with the desire of seeing them come into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.  When that happens, the new believer is integrated into your DNA group.

When the group grows to four people, the group then divides into two groups and the process is repeated. The goal is to love people as God does, and join Him in making more and better disciples.
