Gideon: A 7-session Study by Priscilla Shirer

When we hear the name Gideon, most of us think about his 300 soldiers or a fleece spread beneath the evening sky. But Gideon’s story is so much bigger than that. This is a story about God and His people—His love for them, as well as His strength operating in spite of, even through, their weakness.

This 7-session study will encourage you to recognize your weakness as the key that the Lord gives you to unlock the full experience of His strength in your life. Instead of ignoring, neglecting, or trying to escape your weaknesses, learn to see them as the gifts given specifically and strategically by God. If you have ever felt insufficient, ill equipped, incompetent, or outnumbered, this study is for you.

Peace and Joy on the Journey

Peace – “a condition or sense of harmony, well-being, and prosperity” Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary

  • Word “peace” (peaceable, peaceably, peacemaker) – used over 400 times in the Bible

Joy – “state of delight and well-being that results from knowing and serving God.” (Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary)

  • Word “joy” (joyful, rejoicing) – used over 200 times in Bible

These are two of the qualities listed in the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22&23.

We will concentrate on these two qualities this summer to determine how we can have them in our lives on a daily basis, as we journey through life and whatever it throws at us. We will look at these two qualities in the Old Testament, the life of Christ, and our lives as believers in Jesus Christ, as we learn from the New Testament.

  • Meeting Dates:  June 20 (no childcare), July 11 and August 8th
